SPECIAL MISSION PROJECTS

  HAITI  EARTHQUAKE
In January 2010 St. Peter's watched, as did the rest of the world, the devastation in Haiti following the massive earthquake in Port au Prince.  Special offerings were collected each Sunday until Easter.  A total donation of $1,146.50 was sent to Bishop Ted Gulick to be used by Episcopal Relief and Developement efforts in Haiti.

TENNESSEE  FLOODING
Nashville, Tennessee, just 2 hrs. south of St. Peter's was hard hit by rain and flooding on May 1st, 2010.
Following a call to the Diocesan office in Nashville a decision was made to help one of the hardest hit Episcopal Churchs in the area.  All Saints Church in Smyrna, Tn. became the focus of our next Mission Project.
A large part of their membership are Karen refugees who farm the land surrounding the church.  They depend solely on the food harvested and profits made to sustain themselves.
Senior Warden, Doug Moore drove down to Smyrna to see firsthand all that had been lost.   Hand tools, a workshed, irrigation pump, hoses and a tractor were lost or had water damage.  The crops needed to be planted in order to be ready for harvest time.  Doug talked with several of the Karen population and toured the empty fields and tiny creek that overflowed to flood everything.
Upon returning, the parishioners of St. Peter's decided to start another Special Offering to help All Saints recover.  A call was put in to Grace Episcopal Church in Paducah inviting them to join us in this effort.  Within a very short period of time a check for $1,930.00 was sent to purchase a new pump and hoses.  Soon after another donation of $525.00 was received making the total raised $2,455.00.
