On Sunday, Nov. 8, St. Peter's of the Lakes Episcopal Church, located near Kentucky Lake in western Kentucky, celebrated a special day--the day we burned the mortgage for our new parish hall. Our small congregation undertook the construction project about five years ago.  After receiving a grant of $40,000 from the diocese, a commitment was made to raise the remaining $153,000 from the congregation and other supporters.  The goal was reached and St. Peter's has paid off money borrowed within five years.

In addition to the mortgage burning, our congregation also celebrated the baptism of two young members, Noah Kelley and Morganna Barber and the confirmations of Breathitt and Terri Kelley and Jacki Barber. Several others in the congregation also came forward for reaffirmation.

The photos in this set begin with pictures taken when Bishop Ted Gulick met with the confirmands prior to the worship service. They are followed by photos taken during the service and end with photos taken at the mortgage burning on the new deck built in conjunction with Inspiration Hall.

The bishop, the Rev. Libby Wade (rector of Grace Episcopal Church in Paducah), and the diocesan controller Becky Meyer were given the honor of burning sections of the mortgage because of their assisance during the construction project.

THANKSGIVING BASKETS:  Each year the Marshall County Caring Needline delivers over 500 food baskets to families that have requested assistance.  St. Peter's collected food items and cash donations to this worthy cause.

OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD - "The Power of a Simple Gift":  This project brings joy and hope to children in desperate situations worldwide through gift-filled shoe boxes.  A "Pack 'n Wrap" party was held following service on Sunday, Nov. 15th.  Following lunch, gifts were chosen to fill the wrapped boxes.  An EZ-Gift donation online to help cover costs of shipping, new testaments and bible study material, will help us track the final destination of our gift boxes.

A total of 32 boxes donated from St. Peter's were packed
for shipment to Boone N.C.
There the packages will be opened, checked and Gospel materials will be included before they are shipped overseas.
