ST. PETER'S SIGNS NEW COVENANT

Bishop Terry White, priest associate Nick Jaeger, and senior warden Warner Reynolds signed the newly revised Covenant with St. Peter's of the Lakes on Feb. 13, 2011.  The congregation of the Gilbertsville church served as witnesses and full participants to the document which sets expectations and priorities for the Bishop, Fr. Jaeger, the warden (and Bishop's Committee members) and the church.
The Covenant was developed jointly by the Bishop, St. Peter's and the priest associate and denotes St. Peter's of the Lakes as "an organized mission of the Diocese of Kentucky with the goal of becoming self-sustaining" and "a model of growth in the diocese."  St. Peter's also recognized itself as "a chapel, seeking to be a presence of God through the Episcopal Church to those who are recreational visitors, guests and temporary residents of the lakes region."  In addition, the Covenant listed specific goals and priorities for action in 2011.St. Peter's of the Lakes serves Livingston, Lyon, Caldwell, Crittenden and Trigg counties, as well as Marshall County, its location.

                                                                   ROGATION SUNDAY-June 5, 2011
"For the Blessing of Seeds, Crops and the Land"

White wooden crosses made by parishioner Tom McKinney were used to note the boundaries of the church's property.
Following service, members gathered outside and took turns placing the crosses.  This ancient custom called "Beating the Bounds"
reminds us that we are in some way responsible to God for the plants, animals, land and the people inside the boundaries of the crosses.

Smaller white crosses, made and distributed by the children of St. Peter's were taken  home by parishioners and
placed in gardens and flowerpots to remind us daily of God's bounty and our responsiility to stewardship of the earth.
